A Paris-based small-press publisher, Battered Press, is bringing out a collection of short prose pieces I worked on between 2002 and the present. Titled Thoughts of Marv Sandeye / Complete in One Volume, it is a short pendant to my recently published book Evidence. Many thanks to Mike Woods, the enterprising publisher. Musically, I am now mainly preoccupied with my flute/percussion duo, which is advancing well. You can now hear my ensemble piece Stars in the Dice on this site, under 'Listen'
1 December 2009Work continues on the new version of La Pendule de Profil, which I hope to complete by the end of the month. In parallel, I have begun a new piece for a Strasbourg-based percussion / flute duo. This piece is tentatively set to be premiered in November 2009. I am also slowly bringing to completion a large project I began in 2004 entitled The Tubular West, about which I am unable to provide details for the moment.
1 October 2009Evidence, my first trade collection of poetry, is now available from Quattro Books and can be ordered worldwide on Amazon.com. The launch will take place in Toronto on 18 October at 3pm at the Cameron House.
I can be heard performing the heckelphone part of Nachtspiegel, a piece composed by my friend and colleague David Hudry, on this newly released double CD.I have recently accepted a commission for a new work from Le Balcon, a Parisian ensemble based around the notion of amplified instruments. The piece will be premiered 22 May in Paris. In parallel, I am currently composing a new, extended version of La Pendule de Profil for solo basset horn, bassoon, viola, cello and double bass. This version will be performed and recorded in 2010. I will post more details as they become available.
