In Stars in the Dice, I sought above all to concentrate my compositional material as much as possible, asking myself the question: if I remove everything that is not strictly necessary, what remains? The score is based on the gradual construction of a resonant harmonic space in which three fundamental types of material are deployed: chords, concentrated melodic lines and resonances. Even though the entire piece stems from material contained within the first five measures, the music remains fundamentally static throughout.
